Affirmations For Pessimists by Chris Reccardi: book release and signing Sat. May 18
Do you like ugly, silly drawings? Ever get annoyed by lame socially-acceptable sayings such as "...don't take it personally." or "...you need to practice self-acceptance?" Ever feel guilty that you're just too crappy a person for real affirmations of love and kindness and prefer to just say something uncomfortably appropriate to everyday challenging situations? You get all the above with award-winning Animator/Fine Artist Chris Reccardi's new publication "Affirmations for Pessimists", an illustrated book of hideous drawings paired with delightfully cynical quotes that we all think but usually don't say (out loud). Some of them don't even go together. Who cares.
Chris' new self-published book Afirmations for Pessimists will be available for purchase at Q Pop on opening night.
Chris will be in attendance and will be signing copies of the book at 8PM.
To coincide with the release, 34 pieces of artwork from the book will be on display and available for purchase in limited 12" x 12" format.
Chris Reccardi is an award-winning and Emmy-nominated animator and fine artist. Chris has played the role of designer, director, animator, writer/creator and musician on such popular animated shows as "The Ren & Stimpy Show", "Spongebob Squarepants", "The Powerpuff Girls", "Samurai Jack" and theatrical features such as "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs"(Sony Pictures) and "Shrek 3 & 4"(DreamWorks). His fine art and prints have an international collector base with past exhibitions in Los Angeles, Palm Springs, Seattle, Sydney and Amsterdam. An avid musician, Chris is currently serving as bassist and art director for Elliot Easton's Tiki Gods, a newly-formed exotica music group headed by ex-The Cars guitarist Elliot Easton.
All works are available for purchase and preview in the Q Pop webstore!!
